Cardiac Health

Cardiac Health

Cholesterol concerns, elevated blood pressure, and a family history of heart disease are common reasons clients seek nutrition support. Cardiovascular health is shaped by many interacting factors, including diet composition, movement, sleep, stress, and genetics, so Anna's approach starts with your full history and current labs rather than a generic heart healthy checklist.

Areas of Focus

What We Look at Together

Lipid Patterns and Lp(a)

LDL, HDL, triglycerides, and Lp(a) each tell a different part of the story. Anna reviews your full lipid picture in context, rather than focusing on a single number in isolation.

Blood Pressure and Sodium Balance

Sodium, potassium, and overall dietary pattern all play a role in blood pressure regulation. Nutrition strategies are individualized to your current intake and goals.

Inflammation and Vascular Health

Diet quality, fiber intake, and overall eating pattern are associated with markers of vascular inflammation. This is an active area of research, and Anna incorporates current evidence while being clear about what is well established versus still emerging.

Fat Quality and Omega 3 Intake

The type of fat in your diet, not just the amount, matters for cardiovascular health. Anna helps clients build meals that emphasize unsaturated fats and omega 3 sources where appropriate.

Hormonal Changes and Cardiovascular Risk

Hormonal shifts, including the estrogen decline of perimenopause and menopause, thyroid function, and insulin resistance patterns such as those seen in PCOS, can all influence cholesterol, blood pressure, and overall cardiovascular risk. Anna considers these connections as part of a complete picture.

On labs. A standard lipid panel is often the starting point, but advanced markers are frequently recommended for a fuller picture of cardiovascular risk, including ApoB, Lp(a), LDL particle number and size, fasting insulin, the Omega-3 Index, CRP, and vitamin D. Reference ranges and the clinical significance of certain markers are still evolving in the research and guidelines. Anna will discuss your results as part of your broader picture rather than presenting any single number as definitive. Diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease is made by your practitioner or cardiologist.

An initial consultation allows Anna to review your history, current labs (if available), and daily patterns before building your plan.
